In a new video, Medal of Honor recipient Gary Wetzel reflects on his actions that earned him the United States military’s highest decoration.
Wetzel, who received the medal Nov. 19, 1968, nearly had his left arm severed by an explosion during a battle in a landing zone in Ap Dong An, Vietnam. Still, he held off enemy forces and helped his fellow crewmembers get to safety.
Wetzel is a member of American Legion Post 139 in Coloma, Wis.
