American Legion National Commander to Visit the Department of Georgia on January 18th

National Commander James A. LaCoursiere Jr.

James A. LaCoursiere, the national Commander of the American Legion, will be visiting the Georgia Department of the American Legion on January 18th, 2025.  All legion members and Family members (Aux, ALR, SAL) are invited to attend and be a part of his visit.

The full agenda for the day is below.  NOTE – Post 304 is included in the 9:45am time slot.

8:00 AM – Breakfast
Location: American Legion Post 29 in Marietta, GA.
Join the Legion Family for breakfast from 8:00 to 9:35 a.m. VIPs are invited to speak, but please limit remarks to 5 minutes per person. The National Commander will also be presented with gifts.

9:45 – 10:30 AM – Meet and Greet
Location:  American Legion Paul E. Kelly Jr. Post 296 in Marietta
Join the Legion Family for light refreshments and pastries.
Meet the Legion Family from Posts 304, 160, 296, 29, 134, 57, 1, and 140. Duration: 9:45AM to 10:30 AM.

10:45 AM – Tour Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park
Explore the museum and learn about the history of this battle from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM.

12:00 – 1:30 PM – Lunch
Location:  American Legion Post 160 in Smyrna, GA.
Meet and greet with representatives from American Legion Posts 1, 111, 145, 216, 294, 291, 296, and 140—duration: 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. VIPs are welcome to speak for 5 minutes each, followed by a presentation of gifts to the National Commander.

2:00 PM – 3:15 PM – Meet and Greet
Location:  American Legion Post 294.
Join the Legion Family for light refreshments and pastries from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. VIPs can speak for 5 minutes, and gifts will be presented.

3:45 PM – 4:25 PM – Wreath Laying Ceremony
Location:  Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park.
The National Commander will lay a wreath in honor of all Veterans. The ceremony will include taps and a 21-gun salute presented by American Legion Post 143—duration: 3:45 PM to 4:25 PM. Following the ceremony, there will be a quick opportunity for greetings at Post 143. VIPs can speak for 5 minutes, and gifts will be presented to the National Commander.

4:45 PM – 5:30 PM – Depart for Dinner
Location:  American Legion Post 70 in Villa Rica, GA.
Dinner will be served from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Enjoy a Prime Rib dinner and meet the Legion Family from Posts 57, 70, 111, 143, 145, 148, 156, and 338. There will be a cost for this meal. Prime Rib, $20.00, and Chicken $12.00 comes with a salad, baked potato, and dessert.

Travel times between each event may vary depending on traffic.

Weather permitting, we look forward to a wonderful day of fellowship, camaraderie, and service to Veterans “BE THE ONE”.
