Memorial for Richard “Dick” Samuel Bailey

1st Lieutenant Richard (Dick) Samuel Bailey, USAAF 97 years old, passed away on November 3rd. Dick Bailey, as he was known to everyone, flew 60 plus missions during WWII including Battle of Bulge and Normandy. Bailey was a pilot of a B-26 bomber during the war, and then went on to become an engineer for IBM after returning home and going to college.

Bailey was a long-time member of American Legion Post 304 in Acworth.

A memorial ride and service was held on November 22nd. Members of the Patriot Guard and ALR riders, along with 33 Corvettes who are part of the club Dick’s son belongs to, took part in the ride from Post 304 to Falcon Field in Peachtree City. The North Cobb Veterans Honor Guard held military honors, and after the service concluded four North American T-6 Texan WWII warbirds performed a missing man formation.

Lt. Bailey will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
