When the State ordered all non-essential businesses to close, including private social clubs, Post 304 was forced to shutter the windows and lock the doors. For some time now, we have lost our Post home and the ability to gather and socialize with our fellow members.
We were planning on reopening our doors on May 1st. However, based on several factors including instructions from the Georgia Department of the American Legion, we will have to wait a little bit longer to reopen the Post. Our first concern is the safety of our members, many of whom fall into the high risk category. We need to make sure no one who comes into the Post will end up leaving sick.
Posted below is the letter from Eddie Asbury, the Georgia Department Commander, regarding instructions for keeping Posts closed, and projected dates of opening. We are required to follow their recommendations, and will see what happening on May 13th after the Governor’s executive order expires.
We WILL be reopening in the not-too-distant future. Until then, I want to thank you for being patient and remaining loyal to our Post.
We look forward to seeing you again as we move forward through this next “phase of life” being defined by the national crisis. We are definitely still here for you, our members.
