American Legion Baseball Might Be Coming Back to Georgia

For 95 years, the American Legion has sponsored baseball teams for teenagers between 13 and 19 years old in the United States and Canada.  Established by the South Dakota American Legion in 1925, American Legion Baseball has grown to over 3500 teams across North America.

It has been several years since the State of Georgia has had an active baseball program.  Yesterday, at the 5th district Meeting, the Georgia Department of American Legion Baseball Coordinator, Jack Murphy, spoke to the Commanders in attendance about the Department renewing the AL Baseball program in the State of Georgia.

American Legion Baseball alumni have gone on to reach the National Baseball Hall of Fame after careers in the Major Leagues.  These have included such luminaries as Yogi Berra, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Don Drysdale, Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson and many others.  You can find a complete list of noted AL Baseball Alumni HERE.

Volunteers are needed to help bring AL Baseball back to Georgia.  If you would like to participate in re-developing AL Baseball in Georgia, please contact our Commander, John Dowdy, or reach out to the Department Baseball Coordinator Jack Murphy through the contact information below.
