Post Thanksgiving Dinner to Honor the North Cobb Veterans Honor Guard

Our Post Thanksgiving Dinner this year is honoring the North Cobb Veterans Honor Guard for all their hard work and dedication to providing honors to veterans at their final farewell, as well as other duties performed.

The North Cobb Veterans Honor Guard is a joint team comprised of veterans from the local area, primarily members of either or both VFW Post 5408 and American Legion Post 304, of Acworth. The main mission of the team is to augment the Military Funeral Honors teams from the various branches of service, usually providing the Firing Party component.

The current team size is 13. The team was started in May 2017, with the first service performed in July 2017. Since inception, the team has participated in 120 veteran services (10 in 2017, 42 in 2018, and 68 so far in 2019). This represents approximately 2000 volunteer hours.

In addition to assisting in Military Funeral Honors, members of this team are regularly called upon to perform ceremonial flag folding, Missing Man Table presentations, and Color Guard at various local events and holiday celebrations.
