Post 304 Honor Guard Attends Ed Gibbs’ Funeral

On November 5th, 2018, Ron Asby North Cobb American Legion Post 304 member Ed Gibbs passed away after a long battle with cancer.  Ed served in the United States Navy.  After leaving the service, he became a master machinist and worked for Slagboom Tool and Die in Grand Rapids, Michigan, until relocating to Georgia where he retired.

The Post Honor Guard, along with joint team members from VFW Post 5408 and AL Post 304, was in attendance On November 9th to perform Military Honors for Ed as he was laid to rest in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.  Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lucille Gibbs. Daughter and bonus daughters, Angela Reterstorf, Cynthia (Arvid) Kalinen, Gwendolyn Arp (Todd), Renee (Scot) Fairbairn, and son and bonus son Mark Gibbs and Ronald Cnossen; his brother Louis Richard (Elaine) Gibbs; his sister Jan Wiggers Abbott; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
