We recently reached out to District 2 of the American Legion. We have offered assistance to this hurricane-stricken area. We have offered personal care items such as nail clippers, razors, tooth brushes, etc. to be delivered to a local Post. If more or something else is needed, we will endeavor to find out and let you know.
We are calling on the American Legion Family here at North Cobb Post 304 to stop by the Post over the next two weeks to drop off donations of personal care items. They can use razors, shaving soap, shampoo, body lotions, etc. At this time of the year let us open our hearts and wallets to help our neighbors to the south. If you don’t have anything to donate we can always use a dollar or two and volunteers will purchase additional supplies at the local Dollar Store.
To remind you of a few of the lines we repeat every week from the preamble of our constitution:
- To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and Nation.
- To consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
The American Legion has been – and continues to be – an unparalleled force in these United States for social betterment. American Legion’s original concepts and its ideal of devotion to mutual helpfulness started 100 years ago, and influenced the whole social climate of America. You can see that today in many of the benefits we as veteran’s and citizens have today. The American Legion Preamble has been the beacon light of The American Legion for more than 100 years. Let us help to maintain that beacon of light.
We will be contacting District 2 to set up a delivery date shortly. Ask the bartender for the donation jar or the collection box. Please bring in your donations as soon as possible and drop them off at the Post. We will be asking for one or two volunteers to join me to take the drive to deliver our donations. If you have any questions, contact Greg Vassilious at (609) 915-9646 or visit our CONTACT page and click on SERVICE OFFICER to send him an email.
