On Thursday, July 15th, 2021, the Ron Asby North Cobb American Legion Post 304 held its annual Post elected officer installation and banquet. The banquet was catered by Paisano’s Italian Restaurant of Kennesaw, and members enjoyed a spaghetti and baked ziti dinner with salad and garlic bread.
After the dinner, members and invited guests adjourned to the Assembly Hall for the Installation and General Membership meeting. On hand for the installation of officers, and to swear those officers in, were: Walt Cusick, GA Jr Vice Commander for Districts 5,7 & 9; Tony Propst, ALR State Director; Al Jackson, 5th District Commander; and Scarlette Campbell, President of 5th District Auxiliary.
Naomie Munevar became the first woman installed as Post 304 Commander, replacing John Dowdy who served with honor and distinction from 2019 until 2021. Rose Davidson was sworn in as Auxiliary President, Bob Weatherford was sworn in for another year as ALR Director and Woody Rhody was sworn in as SAL Commander.
After the installation, several certificates of appreciation and recognition were handed out by outgoing Commander John Dowdy. And, in place of naming one member of Post 304 as “Legionaire of the Year”, Commander Dowdy named the entire membership for the honor since the membership worked together during the pandemic to keep the Post open and solvent.
